I guess everyone better stop it right now or the Georgia race will all be our fault - thank you for showing us our folly. I see now that your warning to Nurse Jackie that you're "not gonna let it stand" is obviously for the good of the country, and not personal at all.

BTW - 'irritated' is clearly indicated by the hijacking of multiple threads, many of which have nothing to do with what they're irritated about. More than one person has pointed this out.
I guess that list of evidence I provided that Democrats are 'not sitting on their thumbs" and actually calling Trump what you said they weren't bothered you?

It would at least be consistent with what you are admonishing me to do.

(67,782 posts)It is NOT a requirement than Members of Congress get the vaccine. She's older than 30 and her father died from the virus, and she's educating and communicating with her constituents, too.
Ilhan Omar Defers Vaccine Offer, Says Its Shameful Congress Gets Priority
People who need it most, should get it, said the Minnesota Democrat.
Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) slammed the prioritization of the COVID-19 vaccine for members of Congress, saying she wont get the shot thats being made available to lawmakers because it should first go to people who need it most.
Link to tweet
Omar, a first-term lawmaker whose father died from complications of the coronavirus in June, tweeted Sunday it was shameful that politicians are in line to receive the vaccine before workers on the frontlines of the pandemic who are making sacrifices everyday.

(42,862 posts)Nope, she deserves praise for not making it about herself. And instead... her tweet informs about the vaccine.
She understands that now is not the time for personal boasting or bragging. She knows that it's important for our elected representatives emphasize the value and safety of the vaccine itself, without posturing or putting on airs of bravery and courage (ie: if the undertone of the messaging is that one needs to be "brave" or "courageous," then that also suggests and reinforces the false notion that perhaps there's genuinely something to fear... and that's not the case!)
She's taken the exact right approach and tone. It's good when our elected representatives posts tweets that inform; that put people at ease; and that are in the public's interest (rather than in their own self-interest.) She's a class act. I admire her very much.

(82,383 posts)I think it natural to ask why a 30 year old got it this soon. It was answered that Pelosi asked all of Congress to get it and so we then understood that it was a matter of continuity of government. So we know that now.
Further, I have never heard of Karen Bass before, as she has never slammed Pelosi or other Democrats. To my knowledge, she has not called for replacing Pelosi. She is 5 terms in and I've never known or heard her say or tweet anything indicating there is something wrong about Biden or Schumer, etc.

AmericanCanuck
(1,102 posts)That is how tweets from elected officials should be. Focused on educating and being informative rather than boasting, bragging and grandstanding while making it about themselves and not the subject matter.
NurseJackie
(42,862 posts)It was fact-driven, not focused on herself. I believe that all of our elected representatives would be well-served if they would ask themselves "WWND?" before they speak or tweet. Nancy Pelosi is a class act. She's smart and wise. She has the experience to know that it's NOT "all about her" and she puts the interests of people ahead of her own. She seeks to solve problems, not create them.
Nancy Pelosi is a national treasure.

(32,640 posts)AOC is strong enough to endure what goes on at DU, even if you think that she'll be diminished or Georgia will somehow be lost due to people posting here on DU. The flurry of posts accusing everyone on various threads of 'attacking' her makes it appear that some people think she isn't going to be OK if people post things here that others don't like.

(82,383 posts)would get it so soon and the answer was Pelosi asked the House to be vaccinated because they are government representatives and continuity of government is a value. Also pointed out was that as House member, AOC works with a lot of older people, like Bass, who are at risk anyway and would get the vaccine due to age or co-morbidities.
I do not have a problem, because of the above, with AOC getting the vaccine.
