It definitely will happen. There will be enough Repubs that will turn on him. | |

(3,420 posts)There is a secret group that wants Trump gone with no influence on the party or its voters. That means that they will support further humiliation and distraction of the man. The question remain of how many republicans that will be.

(65,618 posts)mightily pissed off, Senators are likely to go with the trend. I think we have a window of opportunity. If we miss it, he won't get convicted and WE NEED THAT TO HAPPEN!

I can come up with four Senators who *might* vote to convict. We need 17.

(22,236 posts)The only way 17 repuke senators will ever vote to convict would be if Trump burns down all their houses when they're not home, then grabs all their spouses by their you know whats, and even then I'm not sure those cowards would vote to convict. All of them know that Trump is absolutely guilty as charged, but I don't think more than a handful of them give a rats ass about any of Trump's heinous crimes as long as they think those crimes don't affect their political futures. 17? I think we'd have better luck finding the tip of a needle in a haystack than finding 17 of that bunch of crooks who would vote against him. But I sure do hope I'm wrong.

(5,295 posts)of them doing the right thing. They've ignored too many chances to do just that.
Nah, a handful will defect and vote to convict, but the vast majority will stick with this fucker to the bitter end.

(3,738 posts)Maintaining power. And if Trump poses a threat to his power, he will take him out. If left to stand, trump will be burning down the GOP. I would think it would be too big a risk for the GOP and its donor/owners.

(22,236 posts)Let's hope McConnell is thinking it out the way you are. I think the biggest obstacle right now, though, is not so much McConnell but Lindsey Graham.
