General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsAm I crazy to contemplate the worst case scenario?
Like for instance, when the traitor calls for a demonstration in Washington, suggesting violence, or even calling outright for violence. How will law enforcement respond, the DOJ? Will they arrest him then? When he is sitting in jail calling for more violence etc. will they need to gag him. His odious followers will then no doubt attempt some really stupid and dangerous actions.
I guess I'm just thinking that we (the DOJ) needs to prepare. I hope there are some pretty smart folks gaming this out, not only in the DOJ but the Whitehouse too. I'm not suggesting that he shouldn't be treated like the traitor he is, just that there are so many scenarios and outcomes possible and hopefully we won't be caught flat footed.
Thanks for letting me share some thoughts

(68,717 posts)It would be irresponsible for us to ignore what is happening now.
We know that Trump is cornered and asking for violence to protect him from consequences of his criminal behavior.
We need to be prepared for worst case scenario.

(17,166 posts)or the Whitmer "kidnapping" (let's be honest, murder) plot, than a big Jan 6 type of thing. Post Jan 6, MAGAts are a little paranoid about their groups being infiltrated by informants and feds. In terms of plotting to take up arms against the state, most won't trust people they don't know personally. So the violence, if any, that TFG stirs up will be dispersed and local.
On one hand that sucks because all of our communities are at risk. But on the other hand it means the wackos will be less coordinated between communities and easier to squash by concentrated regional law enforcement resources. A few groups of jackasses getting put down hard will discourage would-be insurrectionists all over the country. Jan 6 prosecutions have shown that most of these people are more cosplay/larp/blowhard than actual rebel.

(974 posts)also wondering if their political wing (rep party) will continue calling for, or not condemning violence from their militant wing. How far are we willing to go to put this down? Will it require suspending democratic processes, disqualifying candidates, banning groups? I know those are RW talking points, but that is what they seem to be pushing to happen. This situation could end with us all deep in the weeds.

(59,649 posts)sporadic incidents of violence like the guy in the corn field who got shot dead. Could be large groups who will also be put down.
trump's influence will wane even faster now than it has been since it's come out that he stole national security secrets...and may have sold them to foreign adversaries.

(97,347 posts)Trump is too old to last that long, but DeSantis, for one, isnt too old. Trumpism will remain a threat long after Donald is taking a dirt nap in the scruffy sod next to Wife #1.

(59,649 posts)successor. I don't think there are enough of magats, 20 percent of the electorate only, to win the WH. And with more J6 committee revelations coming up, and the DOJ is certainlygoing to find out who helped trump steal national security docs from secure areas, pack them up, smuggle them to Florida and store them, as he certainly didn't do that himself. It had to be a network of loyalists who conspired to make that happen.
There's a lot of negative info and names still to come out against trump and IMO the more that comes out, the more voters he loses, which is good for us. There are already the never-trumpers, the old-school repubs in the Bush/Cheney mole, indies turned off by the trump crimes and lies and of course us Dems. Cheney, btw, came out and called trump a coward last week.
I think we'll fare well against would-be-fascist DeSantis and what remains of the magats.

What's going on now with TFG is a little bump in the road. Something we may not even think of too much when conditions get Biblical worldwide.
