Such an insult on today of all days

As the nation celebrates the extraordinary man who forced the U.S. to recognize its constitutional obligations to all citizens, the news coverage is of Iowa voters who see white nationalism as the American Dream. They are defenders of the Old White American Order in which white Christian men sit atop a social hierarchy and decide which rights go to which Americans. They don't want competition so they assail the notion of diversity, equity, and inclusion which they claim is unfair to them. That should say it all.

because of Pres. Pref. not being done there, even if it were, last time we had an incumbent, we had three attendees...and two were DH and me.

Hard to say if it was because of the changes to voting, or the weather, or what.

However, there is definitely a feeling of a change in the air for the was caucuses are run. I suspect there will be even more changes by 2028.

in one precinct. So, we had me, DH, and one other guy.

In incumbent years turnout has always been very low. In presidential years, we have a lot of people for one and two, practically none for 3.

Drove by the community center and the parking lot was filled, overflowing into the fire department. That's where Republicans had their caucus.

Glad it's over.

ETA: Changes will be only for Democrats, R's won't change a thing, if they could live in the stone age, they would.

I think it was Barack Obama being elected....it scared some people and they just changed or ripped off their masks, probably a combination of the two. They turned right to racism and xenophobia.

... of all Iowans, but it appears to those of us that can only observe from afar, that the low-wattage intellects in red hats are the shot callers right now. And the cynical, corrupt media want to get everyone clutching their pearls and gasping, "Dearie sakes!" 'cause that makes money.
Truth and accuracy are the first victims of unbridled corporate greed, and the loudest howlers with the fewest teeth are more colorful, shall we say, than thoughtful, well reasoned analysis. As the old saying goes, brazen lies will circle the globe while the truth is tying its shoes, the proof of which is embodied by an odious serial liar with the emotional maturity of a brain-damaged two-year-old. Which is why Republicans think he's a genius.

They tend to be poorly educated and deficient in reasoning ability. They are prone to cultish allegiance to a man, and that man is not J.C.

They can go through the motions of everyday life, but are frequently unwise.

22. Such a sad statement

I'm black and have known that MLK was to be highly respected since Day 1, but it wasn't until my adult years that I realized just how extraordinary a human he was. His passion, morality, oratory, scholarship and selflessness were consistent throughout his life. That's one helluva package for one person.

While in college I sat next to Marty King III at a lunch with him and several other students. I remember thinking how unremarkable he was, but realized years later I was comparing him to someone, his father, who was incomparable.
