CNN host Dana Bash came under fire over the weekend after an interview in which Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) went on an angry rant and stated he was looking forward to going after President Joe Biden and members of his administration if Donald Trump wins re-election in November.
Graham appeared Sunday on CNN's "State of the Union," where he ranted about Biden, accusing the president of being "compromised" as Bash sat there and failed to fact-check him in much the same manner as she also failed to fact-check Trump when she was co-moderator on the CNN-hosted debate on Thursday evening.
After Graham mentioned the lack of fact-checking during the debate and then predicted the country was going to "have a resetting," she finally interrupted and asked, "I want to get to a couple of important issues sir, but you just warned of retribution?"
But that wasn't enough to satisfy several viewers, who took to social media to bash Bash.

(8,541 posts)gave Trump free rein to spew his lies and insults with no fact checks or pushback...so it's no surprise Bash allowed Lindsay Graham a stage to vomit Trump's warmed over retribution dreck with no pushback...both Bash and Tapper should be put on indefinite leave after publicly apologizing to Joe Biden..

"JOE BIDEN MUST DROP OUT"
Will not post a link to their BS, but if you're wanting to fact check and can't find it, PM me and I'll send it to you.
There was nothing nice about Biden in their opinion piece.

Sister in law reaction to a summary of 2025, it sounds like when I worked in the orphanage in Uganda. Either Yoh were super rich and powerful or you had absolutely nothing with no safety net.
That is what we need to convince independent, quote what the Republicans say they will do
1. Revenge and retribution.
2. Ban abortion, birth control and IVF
3. Ban no fault divorce and decriminalization of raping your wife
4. Undo all protections for LGBTQ+
5. Guy social security, medicare, and Medicaid.
Etc etc etc. these will affect everyone

(19,723 posts)Some people evidently think it's clever to make sly insinuations about his gender, because he's suspected of being a closeted gay man.
The truth is that sort of thing is not clever at all. Implying that the gender of someone (even a person as odious as Graham) is in question because of their sexual orientation (suspected or not) is both homophobic and transphobic, as well as just plain rude.
I am NOT defending Lindsey Graham, believe me. I detest that smarmy weasel, and I don't care what anyone wants to call him, as long as it's not related to his gender or sexuality. He deserves all the condemnation any of us can heap on him for the awful things hes done, including kowtowing to Trump in such a disgusting fashion. Just leave the homophobia and transphobia (intended or not) out of it.

(4,509 posts)and I really don't want to, that I watched a Fox News clip with a Trump surrogate being interviewed about the debate. Even the Fox News host called out the MAGA-head over Trump's lies. So two questions: What's wrong with CNN? Has CNN now become the worst network out there?

(49,940 posts)Sometimes they act like Fox-lite and other times MSNBC-lite. They are too busy trying to compete for ratings that they don't have time for real news and commentary.

(1,092 posts)I stopped watching when they started cleaning the more progressive voices out. They are TOO obsessed with ratings. I think it gives them a bit of 'analysis paralysis', thus some of the back and forth you mention. I think mostly they are trying to move further right to catch those 'never Trumpers'...
PatSeg
(49,940 posts)they started putting focus on flashy graphics, glitzy sets, and even stupid holograms, instead of good solid reporting. Then you got such dynamic personalities like Wolf Biltzer and John King who could put you asleep in the middle of the afternoon.
They got so far away from what they were in the beginning and now they're barely watchable. They do occasionally have some good special reports, but I rarely see them because I don't usually catch the promos for them. HBO Max plays some of them though.

(19,723 posts)I can't stand her, but I don't see how her father being a producer at one media organization (ABC News) makes her a nepo baby at a completely different media organization (CNN). That's not consistent with my understanding of what nepotism means.
Regardless of that, she's terrible. She seemed to freeze completely when Graham went on his tirade, just sat there and stared at him with an expressionless face the whole time, except for the one moment when she questioned him about retaliation. She let him answer, then went right back to staring.
I don't know if her behavior was due to favoritism or just plain incompetence, but it was a very weird display of...something.

I think that any reasonable person consider his behavior over the years and how much he once despised Trump, then suddenly (without explanation) he flip-flopped and became one of Trump's biggest defenders and supporters -- well, that is definitely curious, isn't it?
What would prompt LG to go full-on MAGA almost overnight. What would make him go frothy at the mouth with rants and get teary-eyed defending Trump. He even stood by Trump when a MAGA crowd was jeering and booing him... he just stood there and smiled and pretended that nothing was wrong.
It's been argued that that's the behavior of someone who's compromised and who has something to hide.

(113,131 posts)Chris Licht might be out after his failed attempt to make CNN into Pox Lite, but the damage he did apparently lingers on. Both Tapper and Bash had to be robotic, asking questions with no follow up and no fact checking and no input at all beyond the questions, which TFG was seemingly not required to answer, even tangentially.
So I think there is plenty of blame to go around, most of it falling on men. Jake Tapper agreed to this abomination as much as Bash did. The format was eeemingly set into stone, favoring TFG by making sure he never got called on any of his bullshit.
I'm also semi convinced something was wrong with the sound at the beginning. If it wasn't sabotage, no one seemed to be in too much of a hurry to fix it.
I wish we could bring back the League of Women Voters and their debaes. Those were reasonably well run with a hell of a lot les bullshit than has been pulled since then.
If a presidential candidate is too fragile to stand up to a TV debate, he's far too fragile to hold office.
