....if he does agree to debate, it may not be the slam dunk by Harris that everyone expects. Be guided by the NABJ interview. Trump will not be backed into responding to any question or criticism. He'll just fling poop. He'll get exposure. The MAGATs will be ecstatic the Ms. Harris wasn't able to "pin him down."

Let's face it, the debate is baked into the cake if Trump agrees, just by climbing into the ring with her, he could win, or at least break even.

Strongly.

I have studied the art of debate since childhood, I heard and/or read debates about the great heavyweight champion Sonny Liston getting ready to defend the title against a brash young contender named Cassius Clay. I have six LPs of Malcolm X, and heard debates on just how "dangerous" he was. The Kennedys. King.

These days, on one my favorite activities is watching legal trials on youtube. The art of organized debate is amazing. VP Harris has enountered felons in the past. This isn't nearly the same as VP Harris in the 2020 primaries, when she debated people she really liked. Ths is very different. She recognizes the felon as a threat to our nation. She will prosecute him.

As he interrupts, screams and shouts, and splatter lies and insults, that should not be viewed as "winning." It is at least tied for being the worst thing he could do. The other is trying to debate on issues. Either way, it will be a big win for her. And he knows it, which makes a debate unlikely.

18. Here's the thing...

He's not going to debate. He's going to go up and pontificate about his points and run his "gish galloping" mouth even when Kamala's talking, just like he did to Biden. This problem with muting mics is that the other speaker can still hear him and the audience can't. So nobody knew what he was doing during the debate with Biden, who was already at a disadvantage being tired and probably coming down with COVID.

If they're going to mute mics, they should also have them in soundproof booths just like a game show. He can't be trusted to either play by any rules anyone else sets, or be able to control himself. Alternatively, you need moderators who know what he's doing and know how to control it.

Trump will debate. He is going to overrun his time, is going to interrupt, is going to intimidate. He's going to try to loom. He is going to bring every single bullying tactic he can into another debate because 1) He really can't afford not to 2) it's the only way that he know HOW to debate, and 3) the next six weeks is going to knock Trump to his knees in terms of the electorate - the Democratic convention, being sentenced, dealing with more fallout from Vance, the news about the Egyptian donation in 2015, and Harris's non-stop barrage of attacks, and a big debate win may be the only thing that keeps him viable.

The problem that Trump has now is that people EXPECT him to cheat. They are looking for it. This is what he was convicted on - fraudulent business transactions intended to win an election. Yet it is hard (not impossible, but very difficult) to cheat when everyone is expecting you to try.

I'm taking nothing for granted in this election. I am solidly behind Kamala Harris, I think she is a great candidate, but I also know (and she knows) that getting enough votes is not going to be enough. This is going to drag out even if she wins in a landslide. Yet there are a lot of people out there who stand to lose big if Trump doesn't get into the White House, and honestly I wish that she would name her VP ASAP because I don't put it outside of the realm of possibility that if she is too successful, she becomes a target, and I don't have anywhere as much faith in the Secret Service as I did before last month.
