Harris Republicans and downballot races

The Republican spell started breaking in 2020 with disparate Republicans getting fed up with the maga-fication of the gop. It’s now a reluctant movement with Republican voters organizing and speaking out on the dangers of trump. With all the polling energy dedicated to the presidential race there is little or no data as to how many Harris Republicans are so fed up with their party that they’re willing to vote for any Democrats downballot.

The real test for No-More-trumpers is how far downballot they’re willing to go in order to end what ails them about their own party. They can vote for Harris and then turn around and vote for a detestable maga Congressmember who is still hellbent on carrying out disruptive maga tactics which defeats the purpose of voting for Harris in the first place. Why elect the pro-Democracy presidential candidate while supporting the anti-Democracy congressional candidate?

A partial answer to some of these questions lies in the link below (thanks BlueMTexpat).

https://nbcmontana.com/news/local/group-of-montana-republicans-form-group-in-support-for-tester

While it’s clear Tester had to have won his past elections with help from Republicans, in Montana they’re doing something they haven’t done before which is openly assembling in support of the Democrat. Perhaps this is something that should be happening more. Googling “republicans for tammy baldwin” or “republicans for colin allred” won’t yield anything on topic. Perhaps it should.

This past week Liz Cheney further surprised by coming out in support of Allred’s campaign for senate in Texas. The Tester Republicans and Liz Cheney show us that there is some downballot common sense coming from No-More-trumpers. But there’s possibly way more potential for that movement in more places and races coast-to-coast. Here’s hoping.

get past saying, "republican" or "democrat" and just address each other as my American friend.

I think it all boils down to competition. We compete on so many levels that it just seems natural to compete with political parties...

I think I'm getting tired and need to go to bed...before I start "doing a Trump" ramble

4. IMO, a two-party winner-takes-all system really cultivates an "us vs them" mentality.

We have over 300 million people but we basically have only two choices for all of our governmental positions. WTF?

6. Do you think there's less rancor in European politics?

I often make comparisons to Europe, but I honestly don't really know first-hand what it's like since I don't have much of a connection. I ask because they tend to have more parties with significant followings.

10. IDK either but it just seems if you have more "teams" to root for the country wouldn't be so sharply divided.

It would make an interesting study.

If things like this keep happening (and we keep drawing attention to it) this election year could prove to be historic.

Upon edit I’m wondering if some or all of them are also Republicans for Harris.
