We completed the sale with foolish recommendations to maintain faith in the system and an incomprehensible commitment to "depoliticize" the DOJ. We threw it away with tepid and futile calls for tolerance, temperance and logic, trite sentiments of community and brotherhood. The inauguration in January is a mere formality. Swearing in the new senate and house is a quaint gesture, a nod and a big middle finger to posterity. As names are given for the new heads of the various government leadership positions and the horror grows, as we recognize the nature of our future that sense of dread erodes into panic like glaciers melting into the flood.
Democracy will not return without unimaginable violence, destruction, starvation and death. If it could have been negotiated back into existence Democratic, nee roadkill, voices should have already done the trick.
This is the last moment, our last chance. The executive and all its powers are now in Democratic hands. It is not the moment for patience and hope and certainly we're beyond faith by now. The haste with which Trump is spreading his tentacles indicates it may already be too late. I implore Joe Biden to apprehend and indefinitely detain as many Republicans as it will require to stop the impending Republican takeover. It is not the moment for adjudicated warrants from, perhaps, unwilling judges. Sort out the law in due time. Secure the media and most if it will sort itself out. If ever there was ever a moment for martial law, this is it.
