Threads, Reddit, Discord... something else?
Because social media sites are much more useful when "everyone" uses them, its very hard to dethrone an incumbent platform like Twitter. But this phenomenon also means that, if users start to leave Twitter en masse as a result of Musks influence, another site could take Twitters place fairly rapidly.
Which one will it be? Where should I go?

(15,323 posts)without all the trolls. I think most are going there. You can pick from interest groups to find your peeps.
Mastodon is decentralized, making it resilient to attacks, but also harder to find out what's happening and to find people. Also, no algorithm, so getting boosted (retweeted) is the only way to get your content in front of people.
Threads is based on Instagram data, so you need an IG account to get started. I hate the autoplay videos
no way to turn that off. Have not tried Spoutible.
