But the announcement left a lot unanswered.
How do you slash, cut, restructure and even dismantle parts of the federal government?
If youre President-elect Donald J. Trump, you turn to two wealthy entrepreneurs: the spaceship-inventing, electric-car-building owner of a social media platform and a moneymaking former pharmaceutical executive who was once one of your presidential rivals.
Mr. Trump said on Tuesday that Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy will lead what he called the Department of Government Efficiency. It will be, he said, the Manhattan Project of this era, driving drastic change throughout the government with major cuts and new efficiencies in bloated agencies in the federal bureaucracy by July 4, 2026...."

(46,247 posts)Hey Trump, that's your job. No need to hire a bunch of crypto creeps to launch the country into a freakin k-hole. The most efficient thing you could do is quit now before you wreak any more havoc.

(659 posts)honestly never paid too much attention to polictics until late 1999, 2000 when I started to pay attention to the stock market because our IRA was growing rapidly after doing nothing for decades, kids started school full time.
So what to do? Stay home and be there when needed with a spouse who traveled majority of the time, maybe day trade? Go back to work with limited childcare and hours not so friendly. Mid to late '90's many of us saw our retirement accounts grow rapidly, above the long term average. When I started reading message boards and looked at historical charts of the markets, a good thing to look, at especially if getting close to retirement.
Then I started to learn the connection, why did the market move so much? Why was the bottom of the market in 2002 the exact day that the IWR was voted on, not sure if it was the DOW, only 30 stocks, or the SPX.
And here we are with crypto, the new gold I suppose, honestly I do not understand it, but I know it takes up tons of energy.
I wish he would quit, but now he has the most wealthy person in the world backing him and people are making tons of money ... until they do not.
Sorry for the long answer

(30,661 posts)They have no intention of doing anything. They will find obscure programs that don't cost much but sound strange and list them as targets but ultimately they won't do much. They will then just lie about how successful it was.
