His "department" won't be cutting anything, even if he hires catturd2 to kick some asses. There are other arms of government that are expressly designed to cover these matters, unless he imagines his pruning of government is going to abolish them.

The released information about his new little plaything implied a strictly advisory role. If it had any real power, he'd have to divest himself of his business interests and probably face confirmation hearings.

It doesn't take much imagination how a loose-lipped prat like Musk could play havoc with the stock exchange by releasing info about his latest brainstorm at key times. Musk has form for doing that.
