Trump Secretary of Defense Nominee Pete Hegseth Called for a "Righteous Holy War"

While promoting his book American Crusade in March 2020, Fox News host Pete Hegseth, who was announced as Trump’s nominee for Secretary of Defense, called for MAGA Republicans to engage in “a righteous holy war." Hegseth implied Trump supporters needed to "be on a crusade."

During the segment, Hegseth read an excerpt from Chapter 3 in his book, implying that Trump's Republican Party is "the only party of America," a statement that excludes Democrats and those that identify with third party platforms, implying they don't support the country:

Americanism has been President Trump's mantra and must be ours. Regardless of our color, gender, creed, or class— we are Americans, dammit. We will not apologize for it. Never. And we're not Republicans or even conservatives' those small, boring, and limiting labels won't suffice anymore— not even close. We are red-blooded Americans, and only a full investment in Americanism can save our country. The Republican Party, by default, has become the only party of America— they must embrace this... or we will leave them, too."

Hegseth then said his American Crusade book "exposes the left" and the "isms" such as "genderism, Islamism, feminism and what it's morphed into, socialism obviously, environmentalism, globalism— all of these things."
