Department of Education. Pell Grants

30 years ago, I got help with my college funding through the help of the Pell Grant. If it wasn't for that funding, my life would of taken a different direction, as I owe my education to the thanks of the US Government. If the Republicans go forth in their gutting fiscal bloodbath of anything to help the poor/hungry/the needy Americans; their fruits of labor will set back our Nations Youth decades.

Here is what they will over look....in one part of DOE.

The Pell Grant is funded by the United States Department of Education.

1. I heard congress can pass Pell grant's individually

so that the money is there even if department of education goes away. That’s a relief.

2. A Republican Congress approving spending to make coll

Surely you jest.

Maga Mike will kill that or make it so only religious affiliated schools that he approved can get the money...hate spaces like Bob Jones U and Oral Roberts.

This just made college a lot more expensive for a lot of people. Expect the handful of private lenders to go all predatory.

They will also kill off loan forgiveness for public employees...screw you teachers, police, fire, etc

3. There are plenty of arguments against gutting DOE - but this isn't really one of them

Pell grants existed before the DOE and they'll exist after it's gone if they succeed in gutting the department.

4. Doubt such programs will vanish if DoE were made part of say HHS. But with trump,

who knows?

5. I saw that pell grants were part of the education

department. That is so upsetting. My brother was paying off his US college loan into his 40s. And he had a little bit of help from my parents who could afford it. I don't know what someone does if they don't have money. What a loss to the country.
