The tracking on my packages says they're at my post office, or the post office of their final destination. But instead of then being "Out for Delivery," they're "in transit to the next facility." Then they go to a neighboring town. WTF? My post office said they never actually got to them, but they will eventually. I've had at least 3 packages all out lost since before Christmas. One went from Ohio to Dallas, TX, in order to get to Virginia and it took 3 weeks with Priority Mail.
I know DeJoy has been a nightmare, but why has it gotten exponentially worse just in the past month or so?

Having the EXACT same problem. Heard the contract between UPS and USPS has to be signed. Mine went from UPS Sec 31 transferred to Post office and every day it says expected delivery is that day with no delivery. Every daythe same.

(14,877 posts)until it goes to maybe one of these places? I actually was expecting 2 packages today and now they don't even have an estimated delivery date.

(48,392 posts)I think the computer bots run the digital estimates. THey scan a pallet, no room on the truck, they rescan it and put it aside. Every scan generates activity. From the little I know that's how I see it.

(14,877 posts)It's gotten pretty frustrating. So I guess my stuff is somewhere on a pallet. One of mine has been stuck somewhere since the beginning of December. They're not even pretending to know where it is anymore.

I'm using the word pallet, i mean those big canvas open-top containers with wheels on the bottom.

(14,877 posts)I've had to talk to a few post offices in the last few weeks. It's a trick getting their phone numbers and an even bigger trick getting someone to come to the phone. But I do remember at least 2 of them talking about whole pallets getting on the wrong truck. One post office told me that all the packages on the truck my package was on were undelivered. And while "in transit," no one has any idea where they are.

(7,632 posts)I use FedEx. One Rate boxes for a fixed price, and Ive never had an issue with packages arriving on time.

(14,877 posts)Sure, packages arrive on time. But in our area, the subcontractors don't maintain their trucks. They did a lot of damage to my driveway a few years ago by dripping diesel oil all up and down it. I told the drivers every time, until I finally gave up and wrote to corporate.
Even if they're good, though, we don't have a lot of choice when we order online.

(14,877 posts)I would be worried if we got paychecks and/or Social Security checks by mail.

(35,689 posts)I sent a package out 3-day Priority Mail, the cheapest available. Got there in 3 days.
I've sent out 10 Media Mail packages in the last month. They all got to their destinations ahead of time, including international.
I just sent out another 3-day Priority Mail package; not worried about it at all.

(14,877 posts)You are lucky. My daughter, who lives an hour away, isn't getting her packages either. Actually, one of her missing packages is her Christmas gift from me.

(14,877 posts)Our local post office is actually very good. But they can't deliver what doesn't get to them.

(1,296 posts)is the default message you get when a package hasn't been scanned in 24 hours. Usually it means its snarled at a sorting facility. I've had some sit at some place for a week or two before. I've noticed a significant slowdown since the winter storm and LA wildfires.
