amount for 2025 minus the Medicare monthly deduction and my tax withholding. I only ended up with 20 dollars. The thing I was interested in was that my Medicare deduction stated Part B and Part C. I checked my Medicare card and it stated A and B. So I called , Waited on the phone for 3 hours. I could get a real answer as why it was switched. I would never sign up for any thing else. I do have BC/BS. Did anyone else get this with their COLA notification. Part A is more important to me as hospitalization. TY

(94,946 posts)My mail in a few days, I'll see what mine looks like and get back to you tomorrow. It's probably in the box so I'll check my mail when I'm out and about, my mailbox is a block away and we're on a cold, windy hill, I like to drive to it on my way back in.

(35,851 posts)BC/BS is probably a Medicare Advantage plan (Part C), and it sounds like it is a plan with a premium, which is (or at least can be) deducted from SS.

(5 posts)Could it have been part D (the prescription part) instead of part C (which would replace part B). I got my letter and after adjustments for part B increases and part D and tax withholding...I got about $30 more. It's so aggravating to be on hold that long!!

(35,851 posts)Part C is Medicare Advantage. It is in addition to Parts A and B, but you trade away your independence relative Medicare by letting a private company manage it through a Part C plan.

(35,851 posts)It sounds like you may be paying something for that this year (whatever is taken out for Part C/Medicare Advantage).
(Part A is free for most folks. Part B is also required (and you have to pay for it, at least generally) if you have either a Medicare Advantage plan or a Medigap/Medicare Supplement)

(8,074 posts)to someone with Part B. Could someone make a mistake, out of 70 Million Medicare beneficiaries, sure.
Ms. Toad
(35,851 posts)No. Having a Part B plan is required in order to be eligible Medicare advantage, just as it is required in order to be eligible for a Medigap loan

(58,666 posts)I spoke to an SS rep and was told my health care company must've increased what they took out the cola.
I couldn't get a straight answer, just sent back and forth. My cola was $185 so ending up with just four dollar increase, I feel ripped off.

(1,268 posts)They always send two identical notifications to me, for some reason. I'm fat, big enough for two (skinny) people, but still just one me.
I ended up with about $35 or so extra, since I have an Advantage plan and it's all free for me. I guess it's one benefit allowed to me, being as poor as I am. How long it will all last, I have suspicions it's not long, but I'll take it while I can get it.

(9,781 posts)...the statement listed my Part D drug plan with the wrong premium amount. Everything else was ok. I called SSA in the morning last Thursday and waited only 15 minutes for a human. She said that some Part D amounts were incorrect, and some were correct. If an error on mine took out too much money, it would be refunded in February. If the February SSA payment was also wrong, to call them back and they'd get it fixed. The exact same thing happened with my wife's SSA statement.
Today, there was a deposit in my wife's bank account from SSA in the exact amount of the error, so it looks like rather than refund in February, they already issued it. Will be interesting to see exactly how much the actual SSA check is for, which comes in this coming Wednesday..
I try to cut them some slack. There are over 70 million people receiving SSA checks, and the GOP has been cutting personnel from the SSA, so I won't get irate unless they fuck up repeatedly and can't seem to fix it.

(1,179 posts)My partner received the letter last week, Thursday or Friday. It listed the COLA increase that is all. We are both still working our career jobs and have employee health insurance and part A only, so no deductions.
