I'm going to try to word this post carefully as to not break any rules.
He was asked by the interviewer, essentially, was Jan 6 the worst day of his life.
Fanone indicated it was not, and he indicated that subsequent events have been the worst days of his life.
Fanone said that while his mother was raking leaves at her home, someone drove up to her and threw a bag on shit of her.
This broke me, and made me realize something.
As a natural result of what Trump has unleashed, some fucking skulls are going to start getting cracked, and the skull-crackers are going to be people who were previously non-violent, and perhaps previously complete pacifists.
People can only take so much of this fucking nonsense.
And this is Trump's plan.
Societal upheaval.
Random violence.
Flood the zone with shit.
Civil war.
Destruction of our country from within.
I rarely personally have violent thoughts, but I did today.

As a result, I'm pretty much a pacifist. Violence is never the answer.
Until it is.
I know this statement goes against DU norms, and even my own norms, but systems and safeguards are failing us.
When that happens, what choice is left?
None.
Do we adapt to our situation? or do we perish at the whims of others?

Hank: Yeah, that sure sounds great... but a lot of the guys who come in here we can't handle one-on-one, even two-on-one.
Dalton: Don't worry about it; all you have to do is follow three simple rules: One, never underestimate your opponent... expect the unexpected; Two, take it outside, never start anything inside the bar unless it's absolutely necessary. And three... be nice.
Hank: [Incredulously] Come on!!
Dalton: If somebody gets in your face and calls you a c*cksucker I want you to be nice.
Hank: [With resignation] Ok.
Dalton: Ask him to walk, be nice. If he won't walk, walk him, but be nice. If you can't walk him, one of the others will help you and you will both be nice. I want you to remember that it's the job, it's nothing personal.
Steve: Being called a c*cksucker isn't personal?
Dalton: No, it's two nouns combined to elicit a prescribed response.
: What if somebody calls my Mama a wh*re?
Dalton: Is she?
[Everyone snickers.]
Dalton: I want you to be nice... until it's time... to not be nice

(15,827 posts)My mother is long dead, but I would do anything I could, using appropriate force, to have protected her, as I would now to defend my wife. More than I would likely do to protect myself.
I consider myself a pacifist, too, but there's a point at which definitions get bent or broken, and abandoned, and it's not always us at fault.

(19,753 posts)I think his goals are more simple and self centered.
For him it's about winning personally and enrichening himself in the process. That's all, just line his pockets with cash and have people bow to him for his mastery of management and good looks. He's a simple man.
Other goal minded individuals may influence him, but it has to satisfy the aforementioned terms first.

She was filling wine glasses, in a different room than the nazis were in, and she spit in every glass before she poured the wine. The movie was based on facts. I wish she would have put poison in the glasses, and killed that nest of evil.

My dad, and later me and my siblings as adults, were protective of my mom, but not in that fashion. Our goal was to keep her out of jail for mayhem.
When I was a kid I witnessed my mom grab a rifle from some fool, expertly unload it, and break it against a boulder. In my mom's wild west family fools and their guns were soon parted.
Some of us are pacifists by necessity, not by any natural inclination.
My mom's parents were pacifists, and her dad was a Conscientious Objector in World War II. He would not take up arms or build them. Her parents were welders and their compromise was to build and repair ships for the Merchant Marine.

(10,405 posts)I recently came across this meme. I remembered some articles that have been shared on DU previously. I'm going to share two of these articles with excerpts below.
Now it all makes sense, I believe that Putin is instructing Elon and then Elon is instructing Trump. I can imagine that Putin is laughing his ass off at the current and incoming chaos that is unfolding.
Trump had as many as 7 private calls with Putin since leaving office, Bob Woodward writes in new book:
https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/trump-had-as-many-as-7-private-calls-with-putin-since-leaving-office-bob-woodward-writes-in-new-book
In the famed Watergate reporters latest book, Woodward reports that Trump asked an aide to leave his office at his Florida resort, Mar-a-Lago, so that the former president could have a private call with Putin in early 2024. The aide, whom Woodward doesnt name, said there have been multiple calls between Trump and Putin since Trump left office, perhaps as many as seven in that period, according to the book.
Heres a look at Musks contact with Putin and why it matters:
https://apnews.com/article/musk-putin-x-trump-tesla-election-russia-9cecb7cb0f23ccce49336771280ae179
Former U.S. Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul said its unusual for business leaders to be in contact with Putin without informing U.S. authorities. While CEOs may often interact with foreign leaders, Putin stands apart, given his invasion of Ukraine, McFaul said.
Hes a war criminal who is slaughtering civilians. That makes this wrong in my view, McFaul said of Musks talks with Putin. You have to decide what team you are on. Are you on the American team or are you on the Russian team?
I hope that I've communicated my believe accurately. This is what swims through my brain and it's okay if no one agrees. Just my 2 cents.
Why would Trump and Musk have contact with Putin as private citizens other than to help Putin and to create chaos in the United States?
