I have never liked Marco Rubio, but now he is showing his true colors for all the world to see.

He is an ass-licking bigot who only cares about power. He has no soul.

attributed to Lincoln but now research claims it was said by Robert Ingersol about Lincoln.

Rubio is a sad character because, he could have gone either way. He actually tried to legislate real immigration reform before his own party wouldn't let him. If you listen to old debates and speeches, he is more talented than most of the Republicans who have prevailed. He grew up in a conservative family and most people don't leave their early influences behind. But there was a time when you could be conservative and not lose your soul. You could put democracy over power.

Rubio chose power over democracy, and finds himself in a deal with the devil. He has enough intelligence and sufficient conscience that it will destroy him even if Trump doesn't destroy him first.

Now he's exposing himself like the small-dicky fat dude he works for.

Rubio's family, remember, fled Cuba because the fascist group of Batisistas (?) they loved and admired was fleeing for their lives as Castro destroyed the fascist government -- and economy too? -- of Cuba. So fascism, if not "taught" to him as a youth, was everywhere included in the adult discussions of Castro et al.

That explains a lot about him and Cubans' consevative bent in general. I thought it was just an over-reaction to Communism. i didn't realize that there was a real fascist group fleeing from Cuba. That explains why Reagan was the hero of Rubio's grandfather.

Still I think, based on some of his early politics, that Rubio could have been a moderate Republican if there had been an avenue for success there. But he was in the end willing to mold himself to wherever the opportunity for power lay. Fascists are, more than anything, about power at all costs.

His grandfather loved Reagan. But while Reagan sowed the seeds of what is happening now, I don't think he ever imagined or wanted democracy to end. i wonder if Rubio's grandfather is turning over in his grave.

Rubio talks about the opportunity this country gave him. I wonder if it has computed in his traumatized brain that he is putting in motion the end of that for everyone who follows.

Ireland had been occupied by the British for a thousand years.
Denying the Irish basic human rights and starving them, they lived in poverty.

Grandparents came here for a better life for their children who then risked their lives
in the US military, as a way to pay back the US they loved so much.

My father always said we should get down on our hands and knees and thank
God we lived in the US. He did everything humanly possible to protect the US and Americans.

Rubio's goal of destroying democracy and the US is unfathomable to me.
And I hope he goes directly to hell when the time comes.

where he had been put for fighting against the Free Staters. That was just what you did if you were 17 years old 100 years ago and you grew up in Sligo. You sided with your people. The IRA smuggled him out of jail, and he had to flee to America to survive.

He was a kind and gentle person, got an honest job, and supported his family. Imagine if someone had come along and tried to judge him by the situation he had left behind. Or had sent him back.

He was so proud when an Irish Roman Catholic became president.
His children have lived the American dream.

audience in PA in the presidential election. He was really dynamic in Spanish. There were a lot of cheers from the audience, so enough Spanish speakers who could understand. He was duping his own people to give up the opportunity Rubio himself had had. He used his own secret weapon and appearance of authenticity in service of Trump.

They are weak, opportunistic men who quickly realized that their presidential aspirations were hopeless but that they could be part of the power structure by attaching themselves to Trump like remoras. Hitler needed Goebbels and Himmler and Göring, and Trump needs his Rubio and Graham and Nutlick and the rest of the climbers and cowards and mediocrities that fill out his kakistocracy.

They appear to have gambled that if they went along with Trump's more reasonable nominations, their Republican colleagues would help them defeat the obvious losers.

That approach failed spectacularly. Every single one of Trump's nominees was approved, even the most incompetent, evil, compromised ones.

Many of us on DU predicted this would happen, because we actually learned some history.

My disappointment in our Democratic leaders is.... outside the rules of DU to express.
