Actor Julian Sands confirmed dead after going missing months ago in California mountains

[snip]"Sands was reported missing from the Baldy Bowl area of Mt. Baldy, about 45 miles from downtown Los Angeles, on Jan. 13, the San Bernardino Sheriff's Department said.
Sheriff's officials said he was hiking in the Angeles National Forest, which was left wet and icy after a series of Pacific storms produced several inches of snow, damaged mountain roads with muddy, overflowing streams, and inspired the closure of off-road driving trails.
On Saturday, people hiking in the Mt. Baldy wilderness discovered human remains and reported them to the Fontana Sheriff's Station, San Bernardino officials said.
The remains were taken to the coroner's office for identification." [snip]

For the family's closure, I'm glad he's been found and identified.

(65,856 posts)The acting, the design, the wonderful kiss in the poppy field, the costuming, and the sound track! Fabulous Puccini arias "O mio babbio caro" and "Ch'il bel sogno di Doretta" just put a polished gleam on the film.

(2,426 posts)I've hiked those mountains a lot when I was a kid, and have seen him in many films. So I must say, sorry, and rest in peace.

(747 posts)He played the composer and pianist Franz Liszt in the Chopin biopic Impromptu
It was a shame he never got the opportunity to play the role in a Liszt biopic.

(7,465 posts)I will never forget watching an interview with him rght after the movie 'Warlock' came out. He was saying how he was very confused about why his character was seen as terrifying. "I have no idea... I don't think I am that scary."
Let me put your mind at rest on that one, sir. You were terrifying. It was a great job with what (I feel) was probably a pretty two dimensional character on paper. He really inhabited that role. Still one of my favorite movies to watch when I am sitting around. Rest now, sir. You will be missed.
