Group with close ties to Trump transition says it was targeted in cyber attack

A conservative think tank that has been laying the groundwork for a possible second Trump administration has been targeted by an apparent cyber attack. The America First Policy Institute contacted federal authorities for assistance after its internal network was breached. The group said in a statement that its systems have since been secured.
It is not surprising that hostile foreign actors would attempt to infiltrate our IT, said Marc Lotter, a spokesperson for AFPI. The tactics, techniques, and procedures of the threat actor are similar to that of nation-state sponsored activities we have seen, allowing us to remediate and respond quickly.
The apparent breach comes amid widespread hacks and attempted intrusions aimed at U.S. government and private institutions across the country, often carried out by overseas actors.
AFPI did not disclose whether any data was removed in the hack, how the breach occurred or the identification, if known, of the actors behind the intrusion. The FBI declined to comment.

(4,332 posts)T isn't even doing a transition... refuses to agree to and sign the mandatory paperwork. Did he finally agree to the peaceful transfer of power to the declared winning candidate?

That assistance comes with a significant string attached: To receive it, each transition team must agree to disclose its private donors and impose a $5,000 limit on contributions from individuals or organizations.
...
Last week, the Trump transition team missed a second deadline, this time to sign an agreement with the White House on access to government information. That document determines how classified information can be shared and how transition aides can communicate with government agencies, and it requires security clearances for anyone receiving classified and nonpublic records. The agreement is contingent on the campaigns signing an ethics plan, also provided by the White House.
...
The Trump ethics code appears more lenient than the White House version. For example, the White House code requires the transition team to get federal approval before hiring anyone who has represented a foreign government in the past year and prohibits aides from working for a foreign government for one year after leaving the transition. Under the Trump ethics code, staff members are barred from representing a foreign government only during the time they are working for the transition.

His 'official' transition team that has missed the deadlines is co-chaired by Linda McMahon (with a strong roster of assholes as honorary co-chairs - the Dumb and Dumber Trump boys, Tulsi Gabbard, RFK Jr and JD Vance). AFPI is also chaired by McMahon. So she could get this group to write the blueprint to sack decent civil servants, weaponize the DoJ against Democrats and the media, and so on, and just import it when needed.

I hope the hackers got the Secretum Secretorum (secret of secrets) and spread it all over the Interent.
