Harris official says Trump is closing "with total darkness and anger"

The Harris campaign said Sunday that more than 90,000 volunteers knocked on over 3 million doors across the seven battleground states during the election's final weekend.
Why it matters: The campaign sees hope in early vote turnout among key demographics and feels confident that their aggressive ground game will pay dividends on Tuesday.
"There's definitely a lot of enthusiasm and momentum, but we're still the underdogs here ... and feel like we're going to keep doing every ounce of work here to make sure we're getting our vote out and we're persuading anyone that is open to hearing from us," an official said on a call with reporters.
Zoom in: The campaign touted early vote numbers showing high turnout among young and Black voters, coalitions they see as key to Harris' path to victory.
They also said that in the closing weeks of the race, "undecided voters are breaking" to them. "There's no place in any battleground state that our organization isn't as fulsome as we believe it needs to be to be successful on Election Night," an official said.
Reality check: More than 75 million Americans have already voted in the 2024 race, including voters in the key swing states, according to early voting data from the University of Florida's Election Lab.
Both campaigns have highlighted early vote data to project confidence in the final stretch, even as polling continues to show the two candidates locked in a razor-thin race.

(3,123 posts)us this was a "razor thin race", who in their right mind would think Trump was winning? As I have said before, over the last month or so, there has been little sign that the Harris campaign has misstepped anywhere, has hit every swing states effectively to huge, enthusiastic crowds, and has continued to raise a shit ton of money.
The Trump campaign has staggered from one miscue, verbal blunder and outright PR disaster after another. The campaign insults war heroes buried at Arlington, immigrant communities with large voting clout in key states, women everywhere, and acknowledge their fiscal and taxing plans will tank the economy in a planned exercise.
Why would anyone not wedded to polling data see this as anything close to a nail biter?

(336 posts)* Melania is not campaigning with Trump, Usha is not campaigning with Vance - very odd and mixed messages about unity and family
* Vance has been non-existent on the campaign trail lately, whereas Walz is drawing in the crowds
* Democrats are encouraging people to vote, including Harris herself. Trump and the Republicans are sending mixed and ominous messages about voting.

(6,327 posts)Nope, just your standard 4 or 5 year old throwing a temper tantrum because he isn't getting his way.
Ignore that child writhing in loud torment on the supermarket floor because he didn't get his way, he will grow out of it.
Painful for those seeing and hearing it, but Trump is doing a reverse of childhood growing up and learning how to deal with disappointment.
Already have the diaper and the temper tantrums happening, next he will be crying and calling for his mommy!
Only mystery is that the core deplorables can't see how their cult leader is descending into senility and dementia.
It's a very clear phenomenon, happens a lot.
But none of the Senior Citizens going through this terminal process are on stage in front of an audience or aspire to be in the White House. They tend to be kept out of the public view with nursing staff to guide and control them.
Rather cruel to let him carry on like that, in fact.
But he is still seen as a useful idiot by some, and their cult leader by others.
Bigly sad!
