Protests against President-elect Donald Trump took place in several cities across the country on Wednesday.
Trump secured victory over Vice President Kamala Harris when he surpassed the 270 Electoral College votes needed to win the election. In a victory speech before the official declaration, he pledged to "put our country first" and bring about a "golden age" for America.
On Wednesday night, demonstrators took to the streets in Chicago, New York and Philadelphia to protest Trump's win.
"Donald Trump, you fascist clown," protesters chanted outside the Trump International Hotel and Tower in Chicago, according to a video posted on social media. Several carried banners as they marched, including ones that read "End the Trump Era" and "Trump Out!"

Heard about the one here in Philly last night when the traffic reporter said something about "some kind of protest..."

(17,819 posts)It was actually a great strategy to appeal to the insecurities of folks. Are you man enough to negotiate for a salary and benefits without asking for a union to help you?

Simplistic thinking helped lose this election.

(6,240 posts)Thank You to everyone already participating in direct action.
Each and every one of us is capable of participating in some form of direct or passive resistance, and a great many of us are capable of participating array of imaginative, resistance activities.
Finding fault and laying blame are useless, and also counterproductive when referring to others chosen form of resistance

Actually, he could just modify Fox News and use it. I have always wondered these past decades, about Fox News exclusively being broadcast on the Armed Services Network every day......

(11,116 posts)I worked at a major metropolitan paper for over 35 years. The editors in the newsroom made the decisions, not corporate. What corporate did was whittle down the newsroom until there was nothing left. But news editors handle the news coverage.

(36,707 posts)A couple hundred protesters arrested, the Twitter feed said some of the organizers and participants (probably a smallish minority) intended to shut bridges and main roads and prevent the inauguration from happening. Yeah, there was some arson, some injuries, the damage ran into the many millions of $.
Don't see why it wouldn't be like that this time. Or maybe worse.
Although the idea of an open conspiracy to prevent an official act of government to pass authority would seem a bit much to even consider possible. (Ahem.)
