Trans Congresswoman Responds To Speaker Johnson's Capitol Hill Bathroom Ban

Representative-elect Sarah McBride (D-Del.) said she would comply with the anti-transgender bathroom rules that House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) announced Wednesday because, in her words, “I’m not here to fight about bathrooms.”

“I’m here to fight for Delawareans and to bring down costs facing families,” McBride said in a statement.

“Like all members, I will follow the rules as outlined by Speaker Johnson, even if I disagree with them,” she said.

McBride became the first openly transgender person elected to Congress earlier this month, winning Delaware’s lone district. Her arrival in Washington, where incoming members are given tours and trainings before the new Congress convenes in January, has been met with attacks from some of her Republican colleagues.

the laughing stock of the world. McBride should put a rent - a - potty outside the Capitol on the big porch. Or she could just have a bucket in her office. repubs disgust me on oh so many levels.

Like other institutions have?

That eliminates the controversy - a choice of Men, Women, Disability, Unisex.

... Mace picks on a member of the most marginalized demographic in the country; hell, in the world, all so she can get some attention so maybe the orange Gargoyle she worships might anoint her with a cabinet position.
Mace is one of the more repulsive members on the Dark Side of the aisle. Even her snarling visage looks like she was knapped out of a piece of flint.
Like every conservative that Satan ever defecated, she pays scant attention to irrefutable scientific facts, such as this one: all humans, indeed, all mammals, are female at conception, which is why men have nipples. The Y chromosome does not manifest itself until later in the gestation period. And, it should be noted, fetal development does not conform to a rigid timeline. Infinite variability governs every aspect of the development of a viable human baby. That includes one's mental perception of themselves, which in turn includes their gender identity.
Given the hostile climate that surrounds someone like Sarah McBride, one must stand in awe of the courage required to make such transition, especially knowing that such malicious and hate-filled people like Nancy Mace foul the planet with their intolerance. More power to ya, Sarah.

BTW, I'm a straight, married, crusty old bugger in my late 70's, but unlike so many of my contemporaries, I do not suffer from ossified perceptions that pervert my views of those that follow a different path.
