Here is a taste:
Let’s talk about Billy Idol’s “Dancing With Myself.” The urban legend is that the song is about, um, pleasuring oneself. Idol, though, has thrown, um, cold water on all of that. He explained that the song was inspired by a trip to a disco in Japan in the late 70s, where Billy noticed that all the young people were, basically, dancing with their own reflections in mirrors. The idea here was to discuss the disaffection and disconnection of people who feel disenfranchised, as represented by the folks, literally, dancing with themselves. Jusssttt a little deeper than the legend would have us believe.

Fun essay. I never heard about the myth about "In The Air Tonight". I always thought it was about divorce. Clouds Passing Nov 3 #3

I honestly have not heard of most of those "urban legends"; I've sent it to a music aficionado I know to get his input
