Maybe we can all help the Admins

I’m not going to post snarky comments, empty K&R posts, memes, pix, jokes, YouTube videos, etc. for the next 48 hours. This site is too important to clog it up and maybe bring it down.

And secondly, if you get a gateway error after trying to post, refresh the Latest page to see if your post showed up before trying to post again- that should reduce additional traffic caused by duplicate posts.

I replied to the OP to let them know that curbing your posting isn’t going to make any difference to our traffic load — however, when DU is running slowly, it is definitely not a good idea to hit the post button over and over again. Just hit it once and wait

It won’t help to reduce traffic but it will help to prevent duplicate posts.

The problem is not caused by too many posts, it’s caused by additional traffic — all the extra lurkers who show up around big news events. The general election is the biggest news event every four years.

Curbing your posting will not make any difference whatsoever when it comes to reducing traffic load.

Fair enough. I’d seen a few other people suggesting this so I wasn’t sure if you were being serious or not.

Earl G and Elad would only need to feed them and supply fresh cedar wood chips fresh changed to keep their cages clean.

Blaze a new path for a hyper green internet spot.

You could even compost the hamster poop.

Earl and Elad run a HIGH-QUALITY operation here! They don't DO hamsters on this site!

Now they MIGHT install another 1.21 jigawatt flux capacitor for more power, but it'll mean another fund drive.....

Post as much as you want, but--here's the issue--when you want to submit a post on a thread, DON'T hit "Post" button more than once.

Also doesn't slow things down--just clutters things up. (At least, that's how I'm reading it.)
