Dog with stitches. Ideas?

Our boy has 8-10 stitches mid right torso. Vertical.
I was in the yard but have no idea what happened.

He’s starting to scratch around it. We are at day 5 with the sutures. He’s in a cone but he’s itching at it with his hind leg.

I called the emergency vet today about options. They mentioned dog socks but haven’t called back since.

Ideas?

One of our dogs had a big skin cancer removed and we used a t-shirt safety-pinned to make it tighter around her waist.

I've also put cortisone cream on them occasionally.

3. Place a gauze pad over the suture area then use an ace bandage and wrap it around the wound area now covered by gauze.

Not very tight, just secure enough.

Secure the bandage on the opposite side of the wound.

it mellows them out
I give it daily to 2 kitties. One has had epilepsy in the past, but there has been no incident since I started giving him doses when I could. The other cat is bossy and mean, and it calms her down.
