A month of serious pain from my fight with JIF peanut butter jar.
My question: would some kind of CBD gummies help?
I can't take NSAIDS, and Tylenol isn't working at all. Dr isn't particularly timely about getting some help. I am supposed to pick up something called Voltaren, but no clue if it will help.
I now have limited use of my fingers, hand and forearm. My dominant hand.

(21,828 posts)It takes about 15 minutes or so to kick in, Now I'm talking about the voltaren arthritis pain gel that is over the counter now. I think there is a voltaren pill, but I don't know about that.

CT scan is scheduled, but not until Dec. 6.
I realize that time is likely the only remedy, but meanwhile the pain is overwhelming.

(12 posts)Rule of thumb: First 24 hours after injury, ice and elevate. Thereafter. heat and elevate. Voltaren gel is very effective, but only use it twice a day. Do not use it with aspirin. They both can cause blood thinning. Not a good combination. Squeeze a 1 inch line out of the tube and rub it all over the sprained joint. Elevate, and rest. If you still have swelling, take yourself to urgent care/emergency room if you have insurance. They will make sure you dont have a fracture or dislocation. They will also show you how to use an ACE bandage to wrap your wrist safely. If you dont have insurance, find a nice grandma to show you. My husband used to wrestle and he knows all about joints. Most athletes or ex athletes can help you out. If you dont regain the use of your fingers within a week, go to urgent care; you may have nerve damage. You need to rest and support that joint as much as you can. Keep it elevated and warm. Towels and safety pins or painters tape can do a great job of supporting and warming! CBD helps pain, but to my knowlege it is not an anti inflammatory or muscle relaxer.
Second rule of thumb; No pain, no gain is BS when it comes to joints. If it hurts, DONT DO IT!
Opening Jars: Grab a butter knife, hold it by the tip and let the handle fall against the edge of the lid until the lid bends enough to let the air in. You will hear the lid pop. Good luck!!
The active ingredient in Voltaren gel is Diflonac Sodium. aAll generics have difllonac sodium. They work just as well as the name brand. I use them myself for my arthritis. Generics are available at walmart and Target. I have a great deal of respect for Target generics, so if you can get there, youll get a good generic at a decent price. Amazon also has them.

(13,708 posts)This was a PLASTIC large jar of JIF, with a plastic lid. Breaking the seal not the same as for a glass jar w metal lid.
I was determined to get it off.
Hmm, I wonder if Voltaren is contradicted by blood thinner Eliquis. I'll ask the pharmacist about that. Thanks for all the data!
I can't take NSAID, and Tylenol isn't helping at all..

(4,209 posts)Voltaren is not recommended. I don't know how it can make its way to your stomach, but it does. And it hurts. (It is listed on the warnings.)

I asked my primary to refer me to physical therapy and she said she would, but no news about that.

(214 posts)I have a torn rotator cuff and it hurts like hell.
I've been in PT since July. Pain killers mean nothing. A cortisone shot made no difference
Now, a word of caution. I don't know your medical conditions what meds you are taking so I can only tell you what I do.
I WOULDN'T SUGGEST YOU TRY IT WITHOUT CHECKING IT OUT WITH A DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST.
My pharmacist recommended magnesium glycinate tablets to reduce pain and inflammation. She explained that inflammation, stress, injury and pain deplete magnesium. Low magnesium makes everything worse.
I started taking it a week ago.
I'm not going to lie to you. The pain is not gone, but it's much better.
I also take turmeric (an Indian spice that reduces inflammation) and use ice packs.
Good luck.

(11,682 posts)Soak in a bucket of Epsom salt/ warm water for about 5 min. then immediately place your hand in ice water.
I've done that for my feet and it gives a few precious minutes of relief.
Not long lasting, but it can be repeated often.
