Yet another PayPal related scam

1. it is ridiculous

the first thing I would do is go CHECK to see if such a transaction had occurred

reminds me of those ridiculous "Rocket Money" commercials where people have zero clue how many subscriptions they have - do they EVER look at a financial statement?

But many people might be tempted to call the number or click a link.

Calling the number in the email or clicking the link just gives the scammers an opportunity to execute their scam. I've gotten some of those emails over the past few months, most involving Norton (which I don't have). I just mark them as phishing attempts in GMail and delete them.

What were they trying to get you to do by sending this email? Not understanding how the attempted scam would play out.

At which time they would likely "need to verify your bank account info."

7. I had a text today

From the USPS with an area code number in Canada.
