5. Beautiful colors!

I live in South FL where we don't have big museums like NY - but in Ft Lauderdale at their tiny museum they have a beautiful Rothko on display in their "Happy" exhibit. It made me so happy to see it!

8. Nice exhibit and museum too. 'Happy' is the word, art and music

promote such good feelings and experiences. I've visited and worked at smaller museums and community museums, mostly art, history and some science. It's all good, terrific for culture.

And for years I visited family in So. FL, Kendall, Miami, Boca and FTL. Also traveled a lot to Key West and the Carib. but not so much in the last ten years. Love the tropics! Great times and the area always holds a special place in my life.

3. Rothko is one of my favorites!

You just get lost gazing at his colors. He did that deliberately, knowing how to show each one off because of the others around them. A true colorist.

If you love red you don’t have to paint an apple or a sunset. Just paint the color red!

4. Wonderful colorist, I could look at his ptgs. all day. In 1949

Rothko saw Matisse's 'Red Studio' newly acquired at the Met and it made an impression.

He had an interesting background and compelling views on art and more.

6. Matisse was very influential on my art.

Funny how that works in art. You just get struck as if by lightning and you have to follow that path. Rothko was just as important to me, so it was all connected.
