A painting I did with a local art show in mind. Not my usual style, but I think it turned out okay. It was accepted along with another painting I've posted on my blog.

(53,410 posts)but Im betting that people will pause and really appreciate your River of Notes. Youre going to get a lot of smiles on that one. It deserves a prize. Maybe Special Mention just on its sheer originality. I like your detour into painting abstract ideas and concepts and that you do it boldly, with your sense of color in full display. Your title for this painting could also be Colors of Music because of the way you use them. This painting reminds me of Munchs painting The Scream, only of something joyous. It also reminds me a little of the psychedelic paintings of the Hippy movement. Youve captured something amazing in its abstract essence. Music in visual appreciation, without sound. The viewer can fill that part in for themselves.
In your Sax Appeal painting you pull the viewer in to a deeper appreciation of the instrument, zooming in, making the experience much more personal than if it were a traditional still life. it Shows a deeper confidence in your technique and your vision and perception. By vision I dont just mean what you perceive with your eyes alone. Its that inner vision that comes out when you paint, and that is usually not clear or even understood by the artist. It just comes out. And what you did when you chose to use monochromatic colors is outstanding. The contrast is put in through brushstroke and precise outlines mixed with the loose brushstrokes in the background, in the same colors which are very well executed.
The better your painting technique is becoming, the more of your talent comes out.

(24,006 posts)I'm looking forward to the show to see how other folks have represented music in their at. It should be interesting.
I'm currently working on the last of my winter themed paintings. It's time to start thinking spring!
