Can anyone recommend a yellow paint that has good coverage? I have several tubes of yellow paint. And they all tend to be watery. I usually have to mix in a bit of white, and even then, have to give it several coats. I have tried Liquitex, Golden, W&N and a couple others. Is there one out there with better coverage or is that just the nature of yellow acrylic paint?

(38,197 posts)acrylic paints and they seem to do just fine with one coat, but I do prime pretty much everything I paint with a coat of white paint (same brand) first. Mostly, I paint woodworking projects and whatever things that I carve.
One really cool yellow effect I got one time was using Spice Islands Turmeric mixed with alcohol and soaking a bamboo chopstick in it. It turned the chopstick into this beautiful yellow color and you could see the veins more clearly. I was experimenting that night for a moss terrarium stand decoration I needed to make and had all kinds of things mixed together.

(71,816 posts)i was gonna say add a medium of some kind. there are tons out there.
but also, have you tried using washes? push the paint around w a wet brush, and see how you like it.
i didnt use acrylics for long, but that was where i started back in high school. my sister had painted in oils. i tried both ways- washes, and also did a seascape w a thick gel that turned out pretty good. they both did. i still have the wash one, and my niece has the sea scape hanging in her house, and wont give it back.
most of my work is inks and caron d'arch- water color crayons.
start w an ink outline, draw on the color, then push it around w a wet brush.
really fun process. most satisfying.
i've been watching you. you are doing just fine.
i will pass on the best advice i got from my very spendy education-
these are great. do more.
