(53,410 posts)I didnt see the face at first, but I did see how well you capture the entirely different aspects and textures of the objects you paint. The wooden cutting board looks smooth and finished. The avocados look fresh and shiny and ripened to that perfect point of of vibrant color and consistency. I can almost feel its unique blend of creamy softness and chewable bulk. The knife looks like it just cut through the avocado which dulls the sharp shine on it. It says something about you that these everyday and ordinary aspects catch the artist in you even as you want to simply prepare some food to eat.
The Devil Tree is like being a traveler peering through a door and encountering an old and weathered sentinel guarding the mysterious ethereal world behind it. Your blurb describes the mood very well.
Your Thistle Stop is a deceptively simple composition which you executed perfectly. In order to have the balance it does every line is necessary. The tall and almost parallel lines of the dried stalks stand in contrast to the off center alignment of the thistle stalks with the thistles being of different heights, and to balance the whole scene is the diagonal line of the path creating visual tension. You have a really good eye for details like this. Ive seen it in many of your paintings, especially the ones of nature. It makes the paintings dynamic and specific to your native style.
Thanks for sharing your art! I love to see it.

(24,040 posts)It's always encouraging to hear your take on my paintings!
Ive already said so much about your paintings that this is basically an addendum to your newer work. No need to reinvent the wheel every time. Everything Ive already said applies to your new pictures. I hope its encouraging.
I like giving everyone positive support. Its not easy being an artist. Most people think its just so much fun!
