Amber Heard files appeal against Johnny Depp's US libel win ruling

Amber Heard's lawyers have filed an appeal against the result of her libel case with Johnny Depp.

In June, a US jury found Ms Heard defamed her ex-husband, Mr Depp, with an article in which she claimed she was a victim of domestic abuse.

Jurors awarded Mr Depp - who denied abusing Ms Heard - $15m (£12m) in compensatory and punitive damages.

Her team have now asked for the jury's verdict to be reversed, or for a new trial entirely.

Ms Heard, 36, won one of three counter-claims against Mr Depp, 59, and was awarded $2m (£1.6m) in compensatory damages.

2. I think Depp appealing the one count that Heard won has a much better chance of

reversal than Heard has with all of her points. And she would probably do well to keep the UK verdict on the down low because the judge based his decision largely on the lie that Heard donated her entire divorce settlement when she hadn't.

She's never going to win in the public eye so she would do well to just move on and try to salvage what's left of her career if that's even possible at this point.

5. How come she can wait 6 mos to file an appeal?? I thought there was a time limit
