Trivia: The title ballet sequence took six weeks to shoot and employed over 120 paintings by Hein Heckroth. The dancing newspaper was achieved through careful cutting and use of wires.

Trivia: This is one of director Martin Scorsese's favorite films and he owns a large collection of memorabilia related to it, including a pair of the red slippers signed by Moira Shearer, a copy of the screenplay signed by directors Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger, an original set of storyboards (which were a gift from Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts), and several movie posters from around the world. Trivia: If the surprise expressed by James Cagney's fellow inmates during "the telephone game" scene in the prison dining room appears real, it's because it was. Director Raoul Walsh didn't tell the rest of the cast what was about to happen, so Cagney's outburst caught them by surprise. In fact, Walsh himself didn't know what Cagney had planned; the scene as written wasn't working, and Cagney had an idea. He told Walsh to put the two biggest extras playing cons in the mess-hall next to him on the bench (he used their shoulders to boost himself onto the table) and to keep the cameras rolling no matter what happened.

Trivia: James Cagney's character of Cody Jarrett was based on New York murderer Francis Crowley, who engaged in a pitched battle with police in the spring of 1931 at the age of 18. Murdered on 1/21/32, his last words were, "Send my love to my mother."

Runtime: 82 mins Genre: Comedy Rating: TV-14 CC: Y

Trivia: National Guardsmen trained the actors to be soldiers for the movie.

Trivia: When Bob Hope is going through pictures of girls, he tears one up crying "Brenda and Covina!" These were the names of two characters on his radio show who were famous for being unattractive and unable to get dates. In the same speech he mentions "a redhead named Lucille." When Hope falls in the mud and says "Mammy!" he is imitating Al Jolson.

Trivia: When Bob is seen wearing a towel, his agent comments that Miss Fairbanks (Dorothy Lamour) should see him in "that sarong." Wearing sarongs was a trademark of Lamour's.

12:00 AM Thunder Road (1958)

A veteran comes home from the Korean War to the mountains and takes over the family moonshining business.
Dir: Arthur Ripley Cast: Robert Mitchum, Gene Barry, Jacques Aubuchon
Runtime: 93 mins Genre: Crime Rating: TV-PG CC: Y

Trivia: The role of Robin was offered to Elvis Presley, who was very interested, but the idea was nixed by Presley's manager, "Colonel" Tom Parker, who demanded more money for Presley's services than the producers were willing to spend.

Trivia: All of the "moon runner" cars in the film had actually been used by moonshiners in the Asheville, NC, area, where the film was shot. The moonshiners sold the cars to the film company in order to buy newer and faster cars.
