He is a brilliant musician and wonderful person... I met him at a concert in Moscow a short while back by the same Moscow Virtuosi, (and a violinist friend of mine) of which he is the founder and director.

And Alfred Shnittke is a greatly under-rated and under-played composer...

Being of Slavic [Czechoslovakian] heritage may be why. Most always they 'know how to do it'. 😊

That's so cool that you met Spivakov!

I saved two other interpretations of this one by Schnittke. I may post them soon.

who has been championed to a great degree by, among a few others, Gidon Kremer with his KREMERATA BALTICA. Do you know Kremer, or the Kremerata?

A brilliant violinist and wonderful human being and an absolutely superb group.
