I haven't posted any fresh photos of Calliope lately. We've been together since 2008, when I adopted her and her mother from a rescue shelter. She turns 16 next month.

This pic reminds me of that quote about how cats were worshipped as gods in ancient Egypt, and they have not forgotten.


Calliope seems to be quite aware of her goddesshood!

Humans also deserve dignity, but it's hard to respect and honor those who are consistently disrespectful and dishonorable. We've got a long way to go.

The only "trick" I have when photographing animals is patience. Eventually they'll turn their gaze my way, and often they'll look directly into the lens.
