Ariz. Sen. Justine Wadsack will have to peel a sticker off the back of her driver's license in the coming months. The controversial Tucson Republican lost her primary election to Vince Leach the former LD17 senator who she ousted in the primary just two years ago.
Wadsack, who has courted controversy throughout her involvement in local politics and recently lost the endorsement of the Fraternal Order of Police after she attacked law enforcement in the wake of reports of her facing a criminal speeding ticket, was trailing by more than 1,000 votes out of nearly 32,000 cast.
In the most recent vote update, Leach was 1,043 votes ahead with 16,485 to Wadsack's 15,442.
While Leach attempted to capitalize on the Tucson Sentinel's July 19 report that Wadsack had been stopped by police in March for allegedly driving more than twice the speed limit in Midtown Tucson, which came after early voting had begun at the beginning of the month, he was leading in both early ballots cast and in votes cast on Election Day.
(Note: the sticker the article refers to identifies the driver license holder as a member of the Arizona Legislature.)
