The jaguar reached out and grabbed her arm with its paw, leaving lacerations, Gilleland said.
Gilleland said the woman, who was not publicly identified, was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life threatening.

Personally, I think they should not only ID her, but charge her for trespass or harassing endangered animals or just fucking stupidity. Idiots really should just be subject to the natural consequences of the Disneyfication of nature and their ignorance.

Notorious for screwing over to the maximum extent possible those unfortunate enough to cross paths with them.

(37,648 posts)I remember growing up hearing an adult admit now and then, "Well, I shouldn't have done that." or "That was stupid of me. I made a stupid mistake." It wasn't considered shameful to admit a mistake.
Now it's rare to hear anyone say that.
This woman's attitude is more likely to be, "They should have had better protections against stupid people like me! So it's THEIR fault! How was I, a stupid idiot, to know that a jaguar would be dangerous if I got too close?"

(12,936 posts)at the zoo in Anchorage, Alaska. Binky, who had been found as an orphaned cub on the North Slope and had lived his entire life at the zoo, was resting in the back of the enclosure. The tourist wanted a closer photo, but didn't realize that Polar bears can move really fast when they want to. Within seconds he had dashed to the front and grabbed the her through the bars.
The woman survived with severe lacerations to her leg. Rather than sue the zoo (the American way), she wrote a letter to the editor saying, "That was the stupidest thing I have done in my life."
As to Binky, he ended up with a souvenir of his adventure -- one of the woman's shoes, which he proudly carried about.

(95,020 posts)The self-taught "nature guide" was taking people to dive and swim in the ocean with some gigantic specimens that were sooo tame, and loooved being stroked and getting close to humans, especially the pregnant mommy shark.
Meanwhile, the sharks were floating around with their cold shark eyes thinking, "Snacks. Right here."
Idiots.
At this time our attention is focused on educating and inspiring thousands of residents, vacationers, and especially Valley school children as our spring field trip season gets underway.
