Conservative group at ASU apologizes for racist, anti-Semitic postings online
Co-founders of a conservative student group at Arizona State University apologized during a chapter meeting Monday night, three days after materials showing some group leaders making racist, homophobic and anti-Semitic comments were made public.
Those and other leaders of College Republicans United said they would "condemn to the highest degree any behavior involving racism, antisemitism or any level of discrimination to any group whatsoever," and that such behaviors were "not conducive to maintaining civility and respect in our political environment."
ASU began investigating the group, which split from the more mainline ASU College Republicans chapter last year, after the Phoenix New Times released a Friday story based on photos and screenshots leaked by former CRU members.
The members, who also shared the dossier with ASU student newspaper the State Press, said they'd compiled the materials in an effort to reveal a club "filled with white nationalists and neo-Nazis posing as principled conservatives and Republicans."
