Kelly continues to dominate McSally in U.S. Senate race fundraising

Presumptive Democratic U.S. Senate nominee Mark Kelly continues to be a fundraising juggernaut, raising more than incumbent Republican Sen. Martha McSally for the third straight quarter and bringing his total raised to almost $14 million.

Kelly’s campaign announced Monday that the retired NASA astronaut and former U.S. Navy fighter pilot had raised more than $5.5 million in the third quarter of the year. After accounting for the campaign’s spending, Kelly has roughly $9.5 million in cash on hand.

His opponent, McSally, raised $3 million during the third quarter. Overall, she has raised about $8.5 million and has $5.6 million remaining, though $1 million of that was left over from her 2018 campaign.

While representing a Tucson district in the U.S. House, McSally earned a reputation as a prodigious fundraiser, raising millions of dollars more than both her opponents and other members of the Arizona delegation.

1. GOP dark money PACS will make up for whatever financial advantage Kelly may have now, I am

sure his people know that. Hopefully democrats can counter with Super Pac money of our own when the time comes. Really goes back at Kelly nailing McSally to McConnel and the GOP's plan to cut social security and medicare as a huge percent of Arizona voters WHO ACTUALLY VOTE every election are those over age 60.

How democrats LOSE in states that higher number of age 60 and over is beyond me when the intent of the gOP is to cut/eliminate SS and Medicare. Why we lose in those areas as we don;t go at them direct and hard enough on this issue alone.

2. About retirement-- I suspect those over 60 who vote for the McSallys don't really believe...

SS and Medicare could actually be reduced. They've been around so long, they're a given.

Another thing is that many retirees don't really need them. I don't know percentages nationwide, but in my area (and I presume Scottsdale) most seniors actually live off of savings and consider SS a nice perk. I see this in my job interviewing random local residents.

3. It's Medicare that can be cut for present and future retirees, the perk

of SS...it's Medicare that all retirees depend on.

4. This may be true. Few are covered under retiree employer plans...

but Medicare is almost universal.
