Wynne mayor faces removal as referendum makes November ballot

WYNNE (KATV) — Always A Jacket has announced that there will be a referendum on the November 5th ballot calling for the removal of Wynne mayor Jennifer Hobbs.

This comes as a result of the group meeting the threshold of 1,092 signatures of registered voters and having it certified by Cross County Clerk, Mary Beth Sanders.

There were 1,207 signatures on the petition calling for the removal of Hobbs that was submitted to Sanders on Monday before being certified on Wednesday.

Code 14-42-199 states that a mayor can only be removed from their office if 25% of registered voters sign and file a petition with the County Clerk no less than 91 days before the next general election.
