Lawmakers to consider $10.25 minimum wage again

The Delaware General Assembly will again consider raising the state's minimum wage from $8.25 to $10.25 an hour.

But supporters of the increase could face an even tougher road when the Legislature convenes on Jan. 10 than they did last year.

Sen. Robert Marshall, D-Wilmington West, says he will again sponsor legislation to raise the wage by 50 cents each year until 2020, when it would hit $10.25.

During the last session, Marshall and other Senate Democrats managed to pass a similar bill, but it stalled in a House committee and never made it to the full chamber.

Supporters of minimum wage increases argue it is difficult to make a living on $8.25 and say higher wages would lead to more money circulating in the economy — indirectly helping boost tax revenues...

is that no one is suggesting the full increase occur immediately.

And it's not as if those opposed haven't gotten any raises lately.
