Kline responds to disciplinary finding
In a 175-page epic leading off with five Bible verses, Phill Kline denied violating lawyers rules of conduct when he investigated abortions while he was Kansas attorney general and a district attorney.
Filed on Thursday, the responses answered a three-member disciplinary panel's final report Oct. 13 that found Kline had repeatedly violated many of the Kansas Rules of Professional Conduct, including the rules prohibiting "engaging in false or dishonest conduct."
The finding was made by the Kansas Board for Discipline of Attorneys, which recommended Kline receive an indefinite suspension of his law license. The matter will be decided by the Kansas Supreme Court.
Kline denied breaking ethics rules during his investigations of abortion clinics in Overland Park and Wichita while he was attorney general and later as the Johnson County district attorney. Kline has called the complaint politically motivated.
