Appeals court overturns Journal's lawsuit against Brownback

The Kansas Court of Appeals overturned a Shawnee County District Court decision to release the names of those expressing interest in becoming a Saline County Commissioner, when the commission was expanded by two seats.

The Salina Journal and Associated Press submitted separate Kansas Open Records Act requests seeking records naming all applicants for appointment.

Brownback denied the request arguing the personnel records were exempt from the open records law.
