A lesbian couple in Houma is claiming that a local bakery refused to make them a cake for their wedding, WVUE Fox 8 News reports.
Sarah Matherne said when she contacted Caro's Bakery on Bayou Blue Road there were no problems at first until they realized the cake was for a same-sex wedding.
"They had an appointment available and immediately asked for the bride's name,'" Matherne said to Fox 8. "I told her who it was. It was obviously a female name, and then she asked for the groom's name. That's when I told her it was two brides and that her name was Jenita. I was excited. I was ordering my wedding cake and she said 'No, we don't do that.'"
"The refusal angered Matherne because her partner has previously ordered cakes from Caro's, but now the couple feels their money is unwanted because of their sexual preference."

(670 posts)It's wrong to deny the service you offer to the public at large based on your own religious bigotry or narrow minded ideal if you aren't religious. I would bake the cake, but not put the names on it because it's sooooo tacky.
