Zachary man and woman admit to scheme to steal more than $1 million from Medicaid via false claims
The owner and chief financial officer of a Zachary health care company were convicted recently in federal court in a multi-million-dollar scheme to rip off the Louisiana Medicaid program, U.S. Attorney of Middle District of Louisiana announced.
Extraordinary Care Network Inc. owner Barbara A. Sadler, 63, and former chief financial officer of the company, Sedric C. Blakes, 42, both of Zachary, both pleaded guilty to using Extraordinary to make fraudulent claims to Medicaid, U.S. Attorney Walt Green says in the announcement.
Sadler told the judge during her guilty plea Thursday that Extraordinary received more than $23 million from Medicaid between 2006 and March 2013 and that more than $1 million of the funds received were from false claims, Green says.
Sadler and Blakes, who pleaded guilty to the conspiracy Nov. 12, were convicted of conspiracy to commit health care fraud and wire fraud.
