Legislators to Attorney General Jeff Landry and Gov. John Bel Edwards: 'Do your job'

Attorney General Jeff Landry and the Edwards administration squared off again Friday, but this time, legislators asked the two camps to play nice.

“I don’t care if you don’t like each other politically or not. The taxpayers of Louisiana want you to do your job,” state Rep. John Schroder scolded Landry and Commissioner of Administration Jay Dardenne after learning the two had not met to discuss their differences.

“We have three and half more years to deal with each other. Do we really need legislators like me to come to the room and be referees?” asked Schroder, R-Covington. “What I see and smell is politics.”

Democratic Gov. John Bel Edwards and Landry, who is seen by many as his leading Republican challenger in 2019, have sparred repeatedly over budgets, hirings and executive orders since both were sworn into office earlier this year.
