LSU fraternity voluntarily suspends most operations while alleged sexual assault investigated
The LSU fraternity where a woman says she was sexually assaulted early Friday during a party voluntarily suspended most of its operations Tuesday after members learned of the allegations.
The national office of Pi Kappa Alpha International Fraternity issued a statement mid-day Tuesday saying "operations outside of normal business meetings" were suspended at the Alpha Gamma Chapter on LSU's campus.
"Alpha Gammas immediate thoughts and prayers are with the alleged victim in this matter," the statement says. "The chapter does not condone these alleged activities and is cooperating with authorities in this investigation to gather additional facts and to aid in identifying the individual involved."
Brent Phillips, a spokesman for the national fraternity also known by the short-hand PIKE, said the fraternity did not have any additional information on the allegations or whether the alleged attacker is a member of the local chapter.
