The Bean family doesn't necessarily agree with crazy Linda.

That's my cousin's name....but that's not my cousin. My Linda is conservative, but a wonderful, reasonable person.

She is a distant relative (my grandmother and LL were cousins) and she did attend a rally my mother put together for parents who are owed child support but the other parent refuses to pay. Linda hasn't always been crazy. She is, however, an elector chosen by the GOP to vote for Romney in the Electoral College should he win Maine.

As for shopping at LL Bean: Most of the shares of the company (which is privately held) are owned by Leon Gorman (LL's grandson) who is one of the best friends the environment ever had and a prominent philanthropist. He's also a Democrat. He owns about 65% of the company; Linda owns about 17%. Also, profit-sharing at Bean pumps a lot of money into the economy and the workers really value it. Please keep shopping there!

Disclaimer: I worked at Bean for seven years.
