Schulz would have been terrible; I'm very relieved. It shouldn't have been even close - Schulz is a hedge fund lawyer who's never tried a case, but the racist MAGAts outstate wanted to blame Ellison for the increased crime in Mpls-St.Paul where they don't live but where the Black people are.

of the true role and responsibilities of the AG. Which really shouldn't be a surprise given who he is and the state GQP, but it was really frightening to think of him actually in office!

What is the automatic recount threshold in MN?

Congrats to Keith- Schultz was the R candidate I disliked the most except for Crockett

Automatic recount procedures

Following an election, Minnesota requires a post-election audit of votes cast. An automatic recount is required under the following circumstances:

If the results from the countywide reviews from one or more counties comprising in the aggregate more than ten percent of the total number of persons voting in the election clearly indicate that an error in vote counting has occurred, the secretary of state must notify the postelection review official of each county in the district that they must conduct manual recounts of all the ballots in the district for the affected office using the procedure outlined in section 204C.35. The recount must be completed and the results reported to the appropriate canvassing board within two weeks after the postelection review official received notice from the secretary of state.

Requested recount procedures

A losing candidate may request a recount of his or her race. A voter may request a recount of ballot measure results after submitting a petition containing the signatures of 25 voters who were eligible to vote on the ballot measure.

The state covers the cost of the requested recount if the results are within the margins described below:[1]

Candidate-requested

Statewide, and district judicial offices:
Less than 0.25% of the total votes counted for the office, or
Less than ten votes when the total number of votes cast for the office is less than or equal to 400.
State legislative offices:
Less than 0.5% of the total number of votes counted for the office, or
Less than ten votes when the total number of votes cast for the office is less than or equal to 400.
County, school district, and municipal offices:
Less than 0.25% of the total number of votes counted for the office, or
Less than 0.5% of the total number of votes cast for the office when the total number is more than 400 but less than 50,000, or
Less than ten votes when the total number of votes cast for the office is less than or equal to 400.

And my research ability is limited while working.

So since the margin is .75% +/-, a recount would have to be paid by Schultz.

I listened to the radio debates, which Schultz lost big time. Ellison made all the good points, refuting all Schultz's accusations, and the longer they went, the higher, faster, and more upset Schultz's voice got. However, not many people listen to MPR and Schultz had non-stop horror movie ads.

Next time, Ellison has got to get somebody to do good ads for him. Schultz had ten ads to his one. It's not enough to just not look like the monster Schultz described. Ellison needed to list the things he accomplished and address the accusations head-on. Even during the debates, Schultz kept claiming that the fraud cases that the AG office went after was proof that he was allowing fraud to happen. Somebody needed to point out that these people getting caught and punished is a good thing. If Schultz or anybody else spends a whole term not finding any wrongdoing, it doesn't mean there isn't any. In fact, it would be a good motivation to check the overseer's bank account for kickbacks.

I was really fearing a term under that sanctimonious jerk. His mind is pursed tighter than a chicken's asshole. Somebody should tell him the Church Lady on SNL was a joke.

The more he tried to scare everyone, the more I found him facile and hysterical. I also notice that he seems to have forgotten exactly who was responsible for inciting the looting and attacks on buildings. But, he can ask those reicht-wing foot soldiers who were idiotic enough to be the expendables for the rethug party. There are a few of them already in custody.
