This is the seat vacated by Ann Lenczewski.
We had a good candidate, Andrew Carlson, according to the SOS site he lost by 130 votes to Chad Anderson, a real Teabagger (who, of course ran moderate).
Anderson refused to attend the League of Women voters' forum or, to the best of my knowledge, attend any event where the voting public might have access to him. Except, of course, his own fundraiser and a Chamber of Commerce forum that was free to the Chambers' member but, as I heard it, nonmembers would have to pay to attend.
Anderson's father-in-law is Dan Hall who represents parts of Burnsville in the state senate. Another tool who feels he was elected to do ALEC's bidding.
Hopefully, Andrew will run again next fall.

So I looked at the SOS site and compared to the 2014 election.

GOTV, DFL. (I know it's harder for special elections, but c'mon...)
And I didn't realize he was Hall's son-in-law. I hope Carlson runs again in the general election.

(28,475 posts)I think he does plan to run (though the comment was not made by Andrew).
I didn't expect him to pull Ann's kind of numbers - but this is clearly the result of DFLers not showing up.
